Barack Obama's wife, Michelle, is scheduled to be the featured speaker on Monday night's Democratic National Convention.

Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean opened the convention. Barack Obama spokesperson said that Ted Kennedy will attend the DNC in Denver.

Chairman Howard Dean opened the Democratic National Convention on Monday afternoon. The convention will lead up to Barack Obama's nomination acceptance speech on Thursday.

Until Thursday, the convention will hear a variety of speakers from former presidents to top party officials. Some of the speakers will include rival senator Hillary Clinton and senator Edward Kennedy.

The start of the convention begins with delegate credential approvals.

Ted Kennedy is expected to attend Monday night. However, the senator will not address the convention. Kennedy has been undergoing brain cancer treatment. Democrats plan to honor Kennedy with a documentary film by Ken Burns and Mark Herzog. His niece, Caroline Kennedy, will also give a speech.

Hillary Clinton worked with Obama's camp to give her some votes in a roll call for the Democratic nomination. However, she is expected to end the quick process by showing her support for Barack Obama.

Michelle Obama, Obama's wife, will be the featured speaker on Monday night. She will be introduced by her brother. Maya Soetoro-Ng, Obama's half sister, is also scheduled to speak at the convention.

Joe Biden, Obama's choice for Vice president, will speak Wednesday night.
