Britney Spears on Monday announced she is planning a world tour in 2009. The pop-star has not toured since 2004.

"Oh definitely, next year," she said, adding the tour would probably take her "around the world," Spears told New York radio station Z100.

Spears has not toured since 2004. Since that time, the singer has only performed in a handful of club shows. The last time the singer performed live was the MTV Video Music Awards where she was highly criticized.

Britney made headlines last year when she shaved her head and attacked the paparazzi. She was also admitted twice to UCLA Medical Center for psychiatric evaluations.

Even so, her life does seem to be back on track. She opened the MTV Video Music Awards looking sharp. She won three awards for her song "Piece of Me."

The pop-star's latest single, "Womanizer," hit the charts last Friday. Her new album, "Circus," will hit retail stores on December 2. Spears worked on the album for six months.

The pop-star has sold more than 62 million albums worldwide.
