CNN Richard Quest arrested for drug possession

Richard Quest, a reporter for CNN, was arrested at 3:40 AM on Friday in New York's Central Park after police found methamphetamine in his pocket.

A New York judge ordered Richard Quest, a reporter for CNN, to six months of counseling on Friday after he was arrested in Central Park for possession of methamphetamine.

The British reporter, who hosts the CNN Business Traveler as well as his own feature "Quest" program, was picked up at 3:30 AM on Friday for being in New York's Central Park after a 1 AM curfew.

Police soon discovered a plastic bag containing methamphetamine in his pocket.

"Mr. Quest did not realize that the park had a curfew and was returning to his hotel with friends. The matter is scheduled to be dismissed," Quest's lawyer, Alan Abramson said.

Quest joined CNN in 2001 for the launch of Business International. Since this time Richard Quest has covered a variety of different events for CNN, amongst others an analysis of the U.S. elections as American Quest and the start of the circulation of Euro banknotes and coins on 1 January 2002. He has also headed up CNN’s coverage of several events involving the British Royal Family.

In addition to anchoring Business International from London, Quest hosts two monthly programs on CNN International called Business Traveler and Quest.
