Apple Inc is selling unlocked 3G iPhones in China for a price. The 8 GB smart phone model retails for $698 and the 16 GB mobile cell phone device sells for $798 in Hong Kong. Consumers say that the company is breaking its own policy for unlocked mobile phones.

Apple Inc is allowing customers in Hong Kong to use its 3G iPhone with any mobile phone carrier. The company is selling the unlocked phones for triple the price.

The popular multimedia phone can be activated with any wireless carrier. However, this unlocked iPhone comes with a huge price. The 8 GB smart phone version goes for $698. The 16 GB version sells for $798.

The 8 GB model sells in the United States for $199. The 16 GB model sells for $299. These prices are for locked phones. As you can see, Apple is boosting revenues for the unlocked versions.

Until recently, Hong Kong buyers could only purchase the mobile phone from Hutchison Telecommunications International Ltd with a two-year contract.

The 3G version offers a touch screen with high-speed Internet access to third generation networks. The mobile phone offers Wi-Fi, e-mail, GPS and a multimedia player for video and music.
