John McCain's staff immediately contacted  local and federal law enforcement after white powder was found in an envelope. The envelope sent to the campaign office contained a threatening letter.

John McCain's staff in Denver has been evacuated. The campaign office received an envelope containing a threatening letter and some white powder. Several people from the staff have checked into a local hospital.

On Thursday afternoon, a letter arrived in the mail addressed to John McCain's campaign office in Centennial, Colorado. Centennial is a Denver suburb.

Local and federal law enforcement authorities were immediately contacted after white powder was found in the envelope.

A spokesman for the campaign said the letter was threatening, and they were taking all necessary precautions.

John McCain was at his home in Sedona, Arizona.

The powder found in the envelope was not immediately known. It is not known to whom the parcel was addressed.

Nearly, 10 people who were in the office went to a nearby hospital.

The envelope was opened by a campaign staffer. An FBI hazardous materials team is currently on the scene, along with Secret Service personnel and local authorities.
