The John McCain campaign said Sarah Palin went through a complete examination. The Arizona senator selected her to be his vice presidential running mate in the 2008 election.

A team of some 25 people went through public records searching for any dirt on Alaska governor Sarah Palin. The process took place without Palin's knowledge.

The team ended their review last Thursday. Soon after, John McCain asked Sarah Palin to be his Republican running mate.

However, some have questioned how thoroughly McCain reviewed the process and the governor's background.

John McCain initially met Palin in February, then held one phone conversation with her last week before inviting her to Arizona.

McCain then met with Palin and offered her the vice-president position.

Additional questions surfaced after Palin's unmarried 17-year-old daughter was pregnant. There were also reports that Palin's husband, Todd, had been arrested in 1986 for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Officials from the McCain camp said Palin's review began with a team of two dozen people reviewing speeches, financial records, tax information, litigation, investigations, ethical charges, marriages and divorces.

Palin had once received a citation for fishing without a license.

A 40 page document was reviewed by McCain and four advisers.

During the process, Palin was sent a personal data questionnaire with 70 questions and asked to submit tax returns. She was interviewed for nearly three hours where she disclosed her daughter's pregnancy and her husband's old arrest.
