Los Angeles was struck by an earthquake measuring a magnitude 5.8. More than 30 aftershocks were felt minutes after the quake.

An earthquake struck east of Los Angeles on Tuesday that was felt in part of Las Vegas and San Diego.

The Los Angeles earthquake struck at 2:42 pm EDT measured at magnitude 5.8. The quake center was about 30 miles east of Los Angeles near the community of Chino Hills, California.

Nearly, 30 aftershocks have been reported so far in Orange County, minutes after the quake.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office said there were no reports of injuries in the Chino Hills area. There were no injuries reported in the city, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Tall buildings teetered from side to side for a few seconds and workers poured into the streets.

The Los Angeles International Airport said there were no flight delays.

The Disneyland theme park remains open but workers are inspecting rides for damage. Los Angeles city officials evacuated City Hall.

The last big quake to hit the Los Angeles area was the Northridge earthquake that struck in 1994, which registered a magnitude 6.7 and killed 57 people.
