There is still no official word when Beta 1 of the new Microsoft operating system will be shipped. The software giant said it plans to ship the final version in early 2010. However, the current schedule has the new OS shipping in 2009.

Microsoft will release Windows 7 to attendees at next month's Professional Developers Conference. The operating system will be delivered onto a 160 GB external USB hard drive. There is still no official word when Beta 1 of Windows 7 will be shipped.

Microsoft Corp confirmed on Wednesday that its new Windows 7 will be released to developers on October 28. Windows 7 is the software giant's new operating system following Vista.

Windows 7 will be delivered onto an external HSB hard drive. The 160 GB drive will have the new operating system pre-loaded and configured to run. The build is a pre-beta release.

The business technology giant gave no other specific details about the new operating system. However, Microsoft does plan to talk about the kernel and how the product will interact with hardware at next month's Professional Developers Conference (PDC).

The conference will also include more detailed information such as network security, the new user interface and its new multi-screen touch interface. The company is also experimenting with an update to its Office interface for Windows 7.

As far as releasing Windows 7, Microsoft has sent mixed messages this week. The company announced that the operating system will ship in early 2010. This was around the time that the beta itself would be delayed. According to Microsoft's official schedule log, Windows 7 is actually expected to ship in 2009 with no delays with its official beta.
