Impotence Drug Reduces Prostate Enlargement
Researchers say that impotence drugs such as Cialis may help reduce the symptoms of enlarged prostates. Some symptoms include such as trouble urinating which is a condition known as benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH.Researchers at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, Northwestern University in Chicago and Lilly Research Laboratories tested more than 1,000 men in ten countries with BPH. BPH is the condition known as enlarged prostates. The study was published in the October 2008 issue of The Journal of Urology. Men who took Eli Lilly and Co's Cialis each day experienced fewer symptoms of urinary frequency. Such urinary symptoms include urgency, intermittence and straining. Some men received various doses of Cialis while others got a placebo. Those who took Cialis were more likely to report improvements. The study suggests that a relatively low dose of 5 mg a day. Cialis caused fewer side effects in contract to drugs currently on the market to treat BPH. Drugs currently used to treat prostate enlargement can produce unwanted side effects, including dizziness, low blood pressure and sexual dysfunction.
