Tesla will build its new electric car plant in San Jose, California. The zero emission factory will add 1,000 jobs. The factory will produce a five passenger car powered by a lithium-ion battery pack.

Tesla Motors Inc said Wednesday it has plans to construct a $250 million plant in San Jose, California that will add 1,000 jobs. The new zero emission plant will be used to build electric luxury cars.

The new state-of-the-art electric car plant will sit on 90 acres of property near a water treatment plant facility. The property is co-owned by Santa Clara City.

The zero emission manufacture is getting 8 million in tax waivers and a least to own option. The company will receive free rent for the first 10 years. Tesla will also benefit from several rebates and tax credits.

Tesla will produce the Model S electric car powered by a lithium-ion battery pack. The car is a five passenger luxury sedan that is projected to run 240 miles on one single charge.

The new vehicle will be ready in late 2010 priced at $60,000.
