Brad Pitt was waving a green flag as he kicked off the 84th annual “24 Hours of Le Mans” car racing event in France last weekend, although wife Angelina Jolie and their six children were absent.
The 52-year-old celebrity was photographed in a white racing uniform before he took a lap around the track and then waving the French flag to start the race on Saturday.
Brad Pitt was joined by another Hollywood hottie, Patrick Dempsey, whose team Dempsey Proton racing was competing in the 24-hour event. Dempsey’s team had a strong second-place finish in last year’s race.
Last year, McDreamy, 50, an avid race driver, placed second at Le Mans in LMGTE Am class driving his Porsche 911 RSR. The “Bridget Jones Baby” stud later posted a photo of himself, Pitt, Keanu Reeves and Jackie Chan on Instagram.
Celebs who love racing have often been involved in the 110-year old event, including Steve McQueen and Paul Newman, who both drove its challenging day-into-night-into-day course.
Absent from the star-studded soiree were Brad Pitt’s wife Angelina Jolie and their six children, Maddox, 14, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, twins Knox, and Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, 7.
Jolie, her brother James Haven, Maddox and Knox spent Father’s Day weekend in the Big Apple - sans Pitt - where they went shopping and watched a showing of Broadway’s darling, “Hamilton.”
