Tickets in Chicago for “Hamilton: An American Musical” are now available as fans of the Tony Award-winning Broadway show started lining up Monday morning outside The PrivateBank Theatre’s box office for a chance to see the performance.
People from Chicago and from out of state camped out overnight and made new friends in line. By Tuesday morning, the line wrapped around the block, extending past the Hampton Inn, the Inland Steel building and down Dearborn Street.
“Hamilton” begins its open-ended Chicago run on Sept. 27. Single tickets, priced at $65-$85, for performances through March 19 go on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Tickets will be available for purchase online at www.BroadwayInChicago.com and Ticketmaster.com, by phone at 800-775-2000 and in person only at The PrivateBank Theatre box office. There is a limit of maximum six tickets per household.
“Hamilton” fans should make sure to purchase their tickets from an authorized seller.
So far, it’s the hottest ticket in Chicago. The line already stretches several blocks away from the theater.
Star and creator Lin-Manuel Miranda’s hit show blends hip hop, jazz, blues, R&B, and Broadway, and brought home 11 Tony Awards, making it one of the most decorated musicals of all time. The show’s New York run is sold out until April of next year.
The wildly popular show, which features rap, hip hop and R&B music, is about the life of one of America’s founding fathers, Alexander Hamilton. It focuses on how he went from being an orphan in the Carribbean to being General George Washington’s right hand man.
The music, lyrics and book were written by the show’s star, Lin-Manuel Miranda. Producers expect “Hamilton” to be in Chicago for at least two years. Hopefully fans will all get a chance to get their tickets to watch this amazing Broadway performance.
