Google Gets Bedbugs At New York City Offices. Google isn't immune to New York City's problem with bedbugs. The bedbugs are found everywhere in New York City, not just Google, and the problem keeps growing.
Bedbugs are a new epidemic in New York City. The Internet search and advertising technologies corporation company has a bed bug problem in one of New York offices. The Google employee who discovered the bed bugs decided to share her thoughts on Twitter. She posted, "Jeepers i am not immune from the bedbug epidemic. bedbugs have been found at work."
Pursuant to this tweet, Google has calmed the situation by delivering a message of their own. "Like several other businesses in New York City, we've discovered bedbugs in a small area of our office. We have notified employees and are taking steps to treat the affected area." According to Google, general searches for "bedbugs" have increased 83 percent in the last year and 182 percent for bedbug-related searches in the last four weeks compared with the same period a year earlier.
David Paterson, the Governor of New York, has recently signed a legislation into a law that requires all landlords to declare a history of bedbug infestations prior to renting out their property. In additon, another law that has gone into effect that requires all schools located in the New York City to inform the families of bedbug infestation instances within the school premises. Paterson became governor on March 17, 2008 upon the resignation of Eliot Spitzer.
